Principal city and capital of the island, it is situated in the Northeastern quadrant, at 18 kilometres or 20 minutes by motorway from the International Airport of Gran Canaria. In its 100,55km territory is located the Puerto de La Luz y de Las Palmas (the Port of Las Palmas), connected to 180 ports worldwide by means of 30 maritime lines, and where national and international cruise liner passengers constantly arrive, making it one of the most important ports in the Atlantic.
The climate of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria is mild the whole year round, with an average temperature of 22ºC.
FILMING PERMITS
To film in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria permission should be requested in person at Las Palmas de Gran Canaria Promotion Society or sending an electronic mail to jenny@promocionlaspalmas.com by means of a general application form to which full information regarding the activity to be carried out should be attached, including date, place of interest, technical equipment and personnel.
The city is administratively divided into 5 districts, each responsible for issuing the corresponding permissions for their zone. Taxes are not charged for the activities of shootings, filming or advertising and photographic reportages, but yes in the case of needing to block space for the parking of vehicles. In such cases, information with respect to the number, model and numberplate of vehicles is required, as well as streets where they are needed to be located; always subject to the relevant authority by the Local Police.
